Compare the paths your actual agreement allows using dated written figures.
Lease-end decisions begin with your agreement and the current instructions from your lessor. Before comparing a return, a permitted purchase or another vehicle, establish which paths are actually available and what each written figure includes.
- Read agreement
- Request figures
- Compare permitted paths
- Keep receipts
Find the contract before shopping the next payment
Collect the agreement, amendments and recent account information. Identify the lessor, the scheduled end date and the sections describing return conditions, mileage, wear, purchase options and possible charges. A general online explanation cannot establish the terms of your individual account.
The FTC’s financing and leasing guidance explains that lease terms and end-of-lease obligations matter. Published instructions from different lessors also differ. Use those examples as a reason to check your own instructions, rather than importing another brand’s inspection window, fee treatment or return process into your agreement.
Ask for current figures with an expiration date
If purchase is allowed, request the applicable written purchase figure and what it includes. Ask which taxes, fees, registration costs or other amounts would be additional, who may complete the purchase and when the figure expires. Do not assume a screenshot of one amount is a complete transaction quote.
For a return, request the current process, authorized location and any inspection or appointment requirements. Confirm how mileage, condition and other contract-specific charges are assessed. Do not assume Bonham Chrysler accepts every make or lessor’s return, or that replacing the vehicle automatically waives existing obligations. Confirm any claimed waiver in applicable written terms.
Compare complete paths on the same sheet
Give each permitted path a column: return, purchase, or return plus a separately quoted replacement. Put known written figures on the sheet and leave unresolved costs marked unknown. Separate your current agreement’s obligations from the new transaction so one attractive monthly payment does not hide the other side.
If financing a permitted purchase is an option you are considering, obtain the proposed loan terms separately. Compare the amount financed, APR, term, total payments and optional products. This article supplies an organizing method, not advice that a particular choice will be cheaper or financially suitable for you.
Plan the handoff and keep the evidence
Before the scheduled event, confirm who receives the vehicle, keys, documents and any required equipment. Ask what record you will receive and how final account questions are resolved. Follow the actual lessor’s process; a conversation about a replacement vehicle does not by itself complete a return.
Retain dated communications and the receipt for the completed action. Check subsequent account correspondence and resolve differences with the appropriate provider. Start early enough to gather missing facts, using your actual deadlines rather than an invented universal timetable.

Questions worth asking
Can every leased vehicle be purchased at lease end?
Do not assume so. Check the agreement and obtain the applicable instructions and eligibility from the lessor.
Does getting another vehicle erase lease-end charges?
Do not assume a waiver. Verify your obligations and any applicable offer in writing, including its conditions.
