Choose an actual truck
Start with photos, equipment and pricing on a specific listing. The inventory below shows new RAM 2500 trucks, ordered longest in stock first. Confirm the VIN, model year and physical location before your test drive.
Comparing used trucks too? Explore RAM 2500 listings across conditions. Availability changes; a configuration described in this guide is not a stock promise.
A clear plan before you leave Durant
Send the VINs, required equipment and trailer details. Request current photos, window stickers and the load labels. Confirm each truck’s physical location and readiness for a test drive.
Review selling price, qualifying incentives, the $225 documentary fee, applicable taxes, title and registration charges, and any selected optional products. Keep vehicle price, trade and financing assumptions clear.
Bonham offers free vehicle delivery within 300 miles, including Durant. Confirm destination, method, timing, paperwork and funding. Agree separately on any trade pickup or transport.
Prepare a valid driver license, proof of Oklahoma insurance, purchase-price documents and any lien information. A new truck uses its assigned Manufacturer’s Certificate of Origin; a previously titled vehicle uses the appropriately assigned title. Service Oklahoma also lists Form 701-6 for an Oklahoma title application.
For most previously titled out-of-state vehicles, Oklahoma requires a vehicle-identification-number inspection before issuing a title. Service Oklahoma says this inspection requirement does not apply to new vehicles. Before the handoff, confirm which documents Bonham supplies, who submits them, which charges are collected, and what you must complete with your Licensed Operator.
Oklahoma document guidance checked October 28, 2026. Requirements and charges depend on your transaction; ask the team to coordinate your purchase paperwork. No tax rate or final registration charge is assumed here.
Choose the powertrain around the job
For a Durant work truck, start with what the trailer weighs loaded and how often you pull it. Then compare purchase price, maintenance and the carrying allowance of the actual trucks.
| 2026 specification | 6.4L HEMI V8 | Available high-output 6.7L Cummins diesel |
|---|---|---|
| Horsepower | 405 hp | 430 hp |
| Torque | 429 lb-ft | 1,075 lb-ft |
| Maximum towing | 17,750 lb | 20,000 lb |
| Purchase comparison | Price the required cab, bed and towing equipment. | Price the same essential equipment plus diesel-specific ownership costs. |
Manufacturer maximums for properly equipped 2026 configurations. Towing and payload maximums are separate figures; they are not all achieved by one truck. Added equipment, occupants and cargo affect usable capacity.
You want to examine purchase cost and carrying capacity for your normal mix of local driving and loaded work. Price it with the same cab, bed and hitch equipment as the diesel rather than comparing two very different builds.
Loaded towing is central to your use. Evaluate the extra torque alongside actual truck ratings, fuel assumptions, scheduled maintenance and diesel exhaust fluid requirements. A diesel badge alone does not establish the better payload.
Shopping 2026 and 2027?
| Published maximum | 2026 | 2027 |
|---|---|---|
| Gas payload | Check the truck’s load label and payload equipment | Up to 4,580 lb with Payload Upgrade Package |
| Diesel payload | 3,600 lb | 3,600 lb |
| Diesel towing | 20,000 lb | 20,000 lb |
For a toolbox-heavy build, compare payload packages and actual load labels on both model years. For a diesel, compare its individual load label and installed equipment. A model-year announcement does not confirm Bonham stock.
Factory references checked October 28, 2026. These are separate configuration maximums. The trim and image examples below primarily describe 2026 vehicles; verify 2027 equipment independently.
What earns the upgrade?
Choose the work configuration first, then pay for the cabin, appearance or off-road equipment you value. These are buying starting points, not a promise that every truck includes every feature.
Start with the work configuration, then compare the available Tradesman Level 1 equipment. Factory examples include cloth bench seating, a 400-watt inverter, a rear antispin differential and front/rear park assist. Package content varies by build; confirm the window sticker.
The 2026 Big Horn/Lone Star Level 1 Plus group adds useful daily equipment such as remote start, a spray-in bedliner, bed step, dual-zone climate control and a 12-inch Uconnect navigation display. Compare that package with a similarly equipped Laramie; the 2027 truck pictured must be checked separately.

Step into a leather-trimmed interior and evaluate the seat fit on a long driving day. Compare installed screen, audio and comfort options with your Big Horn shortlist. A cabin upgrade does not establish higher towing capacity.

Bilstein shocks and available Cummins diesel power make Rebel a distinct comparison for rough access roads. Check the truck’s tires, protection equipment and load label against your trailer and daily driving needs.

A front sway-bar disconnect and locking differentials address a different off-road brief. RAM also lists a diesel Power Wagon; verify model year and availability. Compare its actual load ratings independently of Rebel.

Bison-brown leather trim and filigree stitching distinguish this interior. Cross-shop Limited for a different cabin style, then compare installed technology and price with the same engine, cab and bed requirements.

Leather, wood and aluminum give Limited its cabin character. Evaluate the actual passenger-display and charging equipment you would use. Keep passengers, accessories and hitch weight in the capacity calculation.

Black accents, 20-inch black wheels and a sport-performance hood distinguish the look. Compare the seat layout and park-assist equipment with a similarly priced work trim before choosing the appearance package.

All-terrain tires, Bilstein shocks, a limited-slip differential and transfer-case skid plates separate Warlock from a styling-only comparison. Compare this equipment with Rebel and Power Wagon rather than treating the names as interchangeable.
One 2026 Tradesman example, stock B190850, lists a Cummins diesel, Tradesman Level 1 Equipment Group, a 12-inch Uconnect navigation display and fifth-wheel/gooseneck preparation. It illustrates why the trim badge alone does not tell you the equipment. Compare the actual sticker and load label before choosing your truck.
Inventory-record example checked October 28, 2026; not an availability or payload guarantee. The inventory cards above show current listings.
Images combine Bonham inventory examples and factory photography, including a preproduction diesel Power Wagon. The Big Horn photo shows a 2027 truck. Actual colors, options and availability vary. Black Express and Warlock are listed separately as editions. Confirm every selected vehicle’s model year and window sticker.
| Configuration | Factory equipment examples | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Tradesman Level 1 | Cloth bench; 400-watt inverter; rear antispin differential; park assist | A work-trim build can include useful comfort and jobsite equipment. |
| Big Horn/Lone Star Level 1 Plus | Remote start; bedliner; bed step; dual-zone climate control; 12-inch navigation display | Price the convenience package against the next trim before upgrading. |
| Rebel vs. Power Wagon | Rebel: Bilstein shocks and available diesel. Power Wagon: sway-bar disconnect and locking differentials. | Match the off-road hardware to access roads and trail use, then check load ratings. |
| Laramie vs. premium cabins | Laramie: leather trim. Longhorn: Southwestern stitching. Limited: wood/aluminum accents. | Compare seat fit and installed technology with the same work requirements. |
The load decides
A tow-rating headline is only the beginning. Passengers, tools, hitch hardware and the trailer’s tongue or pin weight all use the truck’s payload allowance.
| Load calculation | Weight |
|---|---|
| Example truck’s load label | 3,000 lb |
| Occupants | −600 lb |
| Tools and bed cargo | −250 lb |
| Hitch hardware | −150 lb |
| Remaining for trailer tongue or pin load | 2,000 lb |
A trailer imposing 2,400 pounds of loaded pin weight would exceed this example’s remaining payload by 400 pounds—even if its total trailer weight were below the advertised towing maximum. Compare a suitable RAM 3500 when the selected 2500 cannot cover the complete load.
Use loaded scale weights where available. Check gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR), axle ratings (GAWR), gross combined weight rating (GCWR), tires, hitch and the applicable towing chart together. Leveling the truck does not increase these ratings.
Include animals, feed, tack, tools and passengers. Use the actual loaded trailer and its tongue or pin load. The empty-trailer specification leaves out much of the working load.
Count a toolbox, rack, auxiliary equipment and regularly carried materials. Compare the installed hitch and electrical connections before choosing the final cabin package.
For a Lake Texoma outing, include the boat, trailer, fuel, batteries, gear and passengers. If using a public ramp, confirm its current access conditions separately from the truck’s towing requirements.
People · cargo · clearance
Test the actual seating with your crew or family. Compare rear-seat comfort and secure storage; Mega Cab offers reclining and fold-flat rear seating. Check the available configuration rather than assuming every trim offers every cab.
Measure equipment and parking space. For a fifth-wheel, review trailer-to-cab and bed-rail clearance with the hitch manufacturer’s guidance. Bed length is part of the configuration, not an afterthought.
Compare hitch preparation, mirrors, cameras and trailer connections on the exact VIN. A prep package and the final hitch installation are distinct items to confirm in the quote.

Tell the Bonham service team about towing, idling, dusty-road use and any upfits when you request an appointment. Use the manual and maintenance schedule for the VIN. For a concern, share when it happens, warning messages and the truck’s mileage.
Ask about diagnostic availability, authorization steps and updates. A diagnostic appointment does not establish a same-day repair promise. Warranty and recall questions need a VIN-specific review.

Bonham Chrysler is in Bonham, Texas, at 2122 N Center St, not in Durant. Durant shoppers can compare RAM 2500 trucks remotely, arrange a Bonham test drive, or discuss free vehicle delivery within 300 miles. Confirm the truck and appointment before traveling.
The 2026 RAM 2500 has a published maximum diesel towing capacity of 20,000 pounds and maximum gas towing capacity of 17,750 pounds when properly equipped. Your truck’s rating depends on configuration. Check its payload, axle, tire and hitch limits against the trailer’s loaded weight.
Start with your loaded trailer, annual mileage and ownership budget. Compare the gas truck’s purchase price and payload with the diesel truck’s towing capability and diesel-specific maintenance. Choose using the actual VINs and written prices; engine torque alone does not determine which truck fits your work.
RAM lists up to 4,580 pounds of gas payload for a properly equipped 2027 RAM 2500 with the Payload Upgrade Package. Compare that equipment with the actual 2026 truck you are considering. The selected truck’s load label, occupants, accessories and hitch load determine your usable allowance.
It depends on the actual truck and loaded trailer. Include passengers, tools, hitch hardware and trailer pin or tongue weight in the payload calculation. Check axle, tire, hitch and combined-weight limits too. If the selected 2500 cannot carry the complete load, compare an appropriately configured 3500.
Rebel and Power Wagon prioritize different off-road equipment. Rebel includes Bilstein shocks and offers Cummins diesel power. Power Wagon emphasizes features such as a front sway-bar disconnect and locking differentials. Engine availability changes by model year; compare the window stickers and load ratings of the exact trucks.
